At LGBTQ SAVES, we believe every young person deserves to feel safe, seen, and celebrated — not only in their communities but in their future careers. We’re always excited to share resources that help LGBTQ+ individuals pursue their goals in industries where representation and inclusion matter most.

That’s why we’re highlighting a new LGBTQ+ Guide to Cybersecurity, developed by Programs.com. This comprehensive guide was created to make it easier for LGBTQ+ students and professionals to break into the growing field of cybersecurity — a field where diverse voices and perspectives are essential for innovation and resilience.

According to the Human Rights Campaign, 46% of LGBTQ+ individuals remain closeted at work due to fear of discrimination or a lack of inclusive benefits. By increasing representation and supporting LGBTQ+ professionals in tech-related industries, we can help build stronger, safer, and more inclusive workplaces.

The guide explores:

  • Why LGBTQ+ representation in cybersecurity matters

  • Barriers LGBTQ+ professionals face in the field

  • Flexible and accessible cybersecurity career paths

  • Top certifications for beginners

  • Education options that support LGBTQ+ students

  • Scholarships and programs designed for LGBTQ+ learners

  • LGBTQ+-friendly cybersecurity communities

  • Interview tips for LGBTQ+ applicants

Whether you’re a student exploring STEM careers, a professional seeking a more inclusive workplace, or an ally hoping to better understand the importance of diversity in tech — this resource offers valuable insights and actionable steps.

Together, we can continue breaking barriers and building a future where every LGBTQ+ person can thrive in any industry they choose. 🌈

LGBTQ SAVES has proudly served as a nonprofit for fifteen years, centering the lives and well-being of LGBTQ youth ages 12–24. In today’s rapidly shifting legal, social, and cultural climate, we remain committed to navigating with an abundance of caution to ensure the safety of the young people we serve.

When LGBTQ SAVES joined Transform 1012 as both a founding and board member, the alignment with our mission was clear: collective work toward justice and healing is vital to the communities we serve. However, due to recent organizational directions and divergent approaches of fellow board members, we have determined that our responsibility at this time must be to prioritize physical and psychological safe spaces for LGBTQ youth, which are increasingly at risk.

We affirm our continued support of the original vision of Transform 1012: a space for collective community healing centered on repairing harm experienced by the Black community in Fort Worth. We believe deeply in the power of shared work to create the communities we all deserve, and we wish Transform 1012 every success on this important journey.

This decision has not been made lightly. We respectfully ask for privacy as we take this step, reaffirming our unwavering commitment to our mission: protecting and saving the lives of LGBTQ youth. Stepping away from Transform 1012 at this time is the necessary path forward for us to continue that mission with clarity and integrity.
